CONNECTED is a project to provide unlimited internet access at home for Eastern Bay of Plenty school students at no cost to their whānau

Who are we?

The Te Aka Toitū trust was established by principals from the Eastern Bay of Plenty in 2016. The trust is managed by a governance team committed to connecting students, homes and families with filtered Internet.

What do we do?

We are making use of the technology available within the school to create connectivity throughout the community.

Why are we doing this?

To give our students the opportunity to close the “digital divide”

What will my child need?

We recommend you purchase a chromebook. We can guide you on a suitable model and very affordable finance options through our partners.

How will we do this?

A tower on the school transmits a signal to a CPE dish on the roof of your house. This is relayed into the house through a router which creates a wireless Internet connection also know as WiFi.

How much does it cost?

Te Aka Toitū seeks funding to provide this equipment to you free of charge. This includes the CPE dish, the router, the cost to install the equipment plus access to the schools filtered internet with unlimited data.

What is filtered Internet?

Filtered Internet means what ever sites are blocked at school, are also blocked at home. If you want an open connection you will need to pay a monthly installment.
